A new half-term and another lecture at the Cavendish Labs in Cambridge. This time the physics department teamed-up with the biologists to attend a talk by Prof Sarah Bohndiek, head of VISIONLab at Cambridge University.
She took us on a detailed journey from the basics of endoscopic imaging, to new and improved techniques that help us to tell the difference between a pink area of healthy tissue and another pink area of precancerous cells. It was striking to see how many different disciplines from oncology to thin film filters were brought together in one application.
Keep an eye out for December’s talk on low carbon buildings.
Mr Arthur, Head of Physics
