Music and art event to support Ukraine

Following the successful charity collection for Ukraine before Christmas, Ms Shevchenko has joined forces with the Music department for another charity event.

Despite it being over a year since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, civilians still need maximum support from charity efforts overseas, and we will once again be supporting a school in Kyiv. Instead of creating boxes of goodies to support Ukranians, funds are needed to create a psychological and physical rehabilitation space.

To raise money for the new space, both the Art and Music departments are using their skills. Last year a concert organised by Mrs Williams raised nearly £1000, which they are hoping to emulate this year with another concert being given by some of the visiting music teachers, current pupils, and recent OIs. Solo and group performances can be enjoyed, and there will also be performances from the orchestra Camerata and the choir Cantores, which was formed specifically for this occasion.

In addition to the performance, local artists are joining together in an art sale. A range of different types of art will be available to buy, with prices ranging from £50 to £800, including pieces by Rev, Mr Bartrum and Ms Shevchenko and a Ukrainian refugee. The concert will take place on Friday 31 March at 7.30pm in the Great School and Little School. The art exhibition will be available to view from 7pm, with sales taking place in the interval, and an auction of some of the larger pieces at the end of the evening.

Tickets will be available on the door, with a suggested donation of £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. This is a fantastic opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause, as continued support needs to be shown towards the people of Ukraine suffering in the war.
