Music beginners are recognised

Last week the beginners’ heats of the annual Music Competition took place, featuring music pupils from beginners to Grade 3 level. This year we launched a new cup – The Leach Cup for the most promising beginner – which was awarded jointly to Isla H (clarinet) and William W (tuba), who were also the joint winners of the woodwind and brass section.

Isla and William are pictured here with Mr Leach, who is a former Ipswich School Director of Music. The other instrumental winners were: Keyboard (joint winners) – Martha C and Nandi B Percussion – James H Strings – Bea G (guitar) Singing – Grace M
